Issues | Who we are... EP@W Ltd is a limited company dedicated to providing online support to people at work wishing to improve environmental performance. There are two directors. Dr Charles Clutterbuck PhD, MSc, BSc, PGCE, FRSA Dr Charles Clutterbuck is a leading authority on the environment. With 30 years experience, he dedicates his life to working, researching, promoting and advising the Government, environmental and labour groups eg: He co-wrote the original "Workers Education and the Environment" learning materials for the Intenational Labour Organisation. He retired as a Senior Lecturer from Blackburn College and worked as Senior Training Advisor at Goundwork Blackburn. He is a member of the UK government's 'Advisory Committee on Pesticides' and the Advisory Group for the Co-op on pesticide reduction. He represented the TUC on the Health & Safety Executive "Health in Agriculture" Working Group for 20 years. He was a Temporary Adviser to World Health Organisation on online materials for Health, Environment & Safety in the workplace, and is now the same for Food and Nutrition Policy & Plan programme. He is a member of the Working group of the UK government's Trade Union Sustainable Development Advisory Committee (TUSDAC) . As part of the build up to the World Summit, Charlie was nominated to the RSA "Sustainable Development Award" and came in 5th in a worldwide vote (nomination and full coverage of award winners). He has three degrees in agricultural science, a BSc (Agricultural Zoology) from Newcastle University, an MSc (Applied Plant Science) and a PhD (on the Effects of Herbicides on Soil Fauna) from Wye (now Imperial) College, London University. He also has a Teaching Certificate and a "D32" (now 'Assessor Unit'). He has co-written two books about food and pesticides, was Chair of Lancashire College of Agriculture, and is now an Honorary Research Fellow of the Food Policy Unit, City University, London. Nancy Thompson MA (Env Ed), Cert Ed, AMIEMA Nancy Thompson spent 15 years involved in environmental conservation work with Wildlife Trusts, Local Authorities and as a Country Park Range before entering the teaching profession. She taught environmental sciences & env. management, developed courses and materials for Lancaster University, Workers Education Association, and several F & HE Colleges in the North West. She was Environmental Projects Officer for Blackburn College, and developed their first draft EMS, and moderator of a Europe wide environmental training development project. She is a qualified vocational training assessor and verifier. Nancy has extensive experience in training people to implement environmental management systems from both educational and practical perspectives as a consultant with Groundwork Trust. She is an Associate Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment and was a member of the Management Charter Initiative working group that developed the national vocational Environmental Management Standards. Nancy authored the UfI Learn Direct programme 'Environmental Management Toolkit' to enable businesses to introduce an EMS and has reviewed environmental publications for Gee Publishing and the Engineering Employers Federation. For her Masters degree in Environmental Education, Nottingham Trent University [1999-2001], Nancy used the development & pilots of the epaw Environmental Practitioner Programme as action research to discover 'What educational processes enable employees to contribute to improved environmental and sustainable development practices in the workplace?'  back |
