TESCO in China

We found a Tesco store in downtown Guangzhou. We went looking for 'sustainable food' inside...(Play background music Complete 'Tesco Saves' on Spotify - free)

First we went up the escalators, and couldnt help noticing that the gap between the escalators are filled with blue covered chocolate bars, and the side shelves stacked with crisps. Great for the kids to get the taste of things to come, but no 'sustainable' food there..

How about sustainable fish? I dont think we are meant to eat these live fish, they are just for youngsters to catch and take home

or is this about the fish getting hooked or more about the children becoming hooked?

Mind you we did find some 'sustainable fish'. complete with documantation of the sourcing trail..

So we asked an assistant if there was any more such transparent sourcing with food, She didnt know.

Are Quails' eggs sustainable? or chicken claws?

Is it very healthy working there?

We found something organic! the rice wine.

There are very few fat people about in the store (have a look), but you wonder with this new found cardboard food.. and imported wine how long that will last

As you go out, you see the most important part - the famous Loyalty Card! This is what Tesco is really about...

"within three months of hiring DunnHumby, Tesco realised the expertise they were bringing to their organisation. As their then chairman Lord MacLaurin said "What scares me about this is that you know more about my customers after three months than I know after 30 years." More

The 'tesco test' would be: take pictures like these in 10 years time to see if people look different then..
