Environmental Practice at Work Publishing Company Limited was established in 1999 with the mission statement “supporting employees to improve environmental practice in the workplace” . The company produces a range of online learning programmes and resources for use in workplaces. The company’s primary learning programme is the Environmental Practitioner Programme. We want to tune in, turn on and tap the greatest resource we have - people.

The company produces online training/learning materials for third parties. The idea for this sustainable food guide came after Charlie helped run courses for IKEA managers worldwide. IKEA was the 17 th biggest restauranter in the world and wanted to know what they needed to do to fulfill the sort of requirements their customers would expect of them. We thought to extend that idea with this guide..

We are carrying out extensive work for the Co-operative Retail to develop a way for their suppliers - in 40 countries, to demonstrate they are complying with "Sound Sourcing". This is a set of standards based on the Ethical Trading Initiative's Base Code, which is itself based on ILO Conventions.

And we are developing online pesticide reduction programmes for both Co-operative Retail and Sainsbury's. These spell out - in different ways, how to measure, monitor and demonstrate reduced pesticide usage, according to the company policy.

We completed a web-based programme for Impactts Ltd on behalf of Tesco, M&S, Waitrose and Co-operative Retail for their UK suppliers to demonstrate they are behaving ethically. See www.ethicalgrowers.org.uk

Charlie has spoken at two recent British Crop Protection Council's Conference: firstly on the debate on pesticides regarding spraying residents and then on "sustainable food" (copy of Powerpoint presentation)
