Sector skills Development

The government is very keen to development agreements between employers and educational and training providers. With TU Reps both on SSCs and at work, we have a real opportunity to promote sustaianbility that is more than a word, but includes our values.

The biggest bugbear to developing generic skils for environmental practice or sustainablity, is that skills development is sector specific. I authored the SDEP Learning Guide for SSCs to incorporate sustainability .

The Sector Skills Council for Food (Improve) have produced a suite of about 20 National Occupational Standards for Sustainable Food Production, that 'cover the skills and knowledge needed to produce food and drink products in a way that is efficient and sustianable'.
